With Atlanta’s ProgPower XV Festival just around the corner, it seems that all, unusually, was going without a hitch. In the past, ProgPower Festival have been plagued with last minute cancellations, visa issues, and fans complaining that [insert band here] is NOT Prog or Power. This year, all seems to be going smoothly. Well, so it seems. Leave it to Over The Top Metal News to give YOU, the people of metal, the news that the commercial media will not give you. Over The Top has the breaking news that all of the European bands that were on the bill for ProgPower XV has been forced to cancel the two day festival.
Over The Top was not invited to be a press outlet for ProgPower (they hate the press and people without patch covered jackets) so we went above and beyond to try and get every bit of news we could get. By utilizing Sound Hearing Intricacy Technology drones, we were able to fly remotely over the wall of the home of ProgPower promoter Glen Harevston. Over the Top was able to hear some heated phone conversations between Harveston and other nobodys that are involved in the festival saying, “All of the European bands have cancelled because their passports have been stolen. I guess now we’ll be stuck with Overkill and we have to fucking feed Jon Oliva or he’ll bail! Please don’t make us book Halcyon Way or any other shitty Atlanta band!”
We did some research into this and it turned out that all the bands passports have been stolen in one of the largest organized Passport Thefts of all time allegedly orchestrated by none other than Jorn Lande. Over the Top reached out to Jorn who had only this to say:
“They didn’t invite me back so I wish anything bad that can happen to them happens. ProgPower can suck my butt.”
With all of the bands cancelling, this leaves only Jon Oliva and Overkill as the only bands that will show up. Oliva has already stated that unless Harveston can secure 22 Meat Mountain sandwiches from Arby’s, he will refuse to perform. Overkill is just happy to be on a big stage again so there’s no problems there.
Over The Top will keep you all posted on any other developments.
